Can i rebuild my credit without a car loan?

If i file bankruptcy, can i still rebuild my credit without a car loan? I want to purchase a paid off car and get liability insurance. I still have a student loan and 2 credit cards, i’m planning to keep them to rebuild my credit. Will these get me to 700s after 2-3 years of paying on time?

I am researching bankruptcy via WIKI HOW, but am confused about processing it without the counseling of a credit counselor. I have had no income to counsel about. Can anyone with bankruptcy legal experience explain this (in the USA).

is it possible to refinance a heloc without refinancing your first mortgage?

I have a good rate with my first mortage at 4.25 fixed for 15 years. I also have a heloc that is adjustible and is at about 8.5 percent right. I would like to refinance the heloc without loosing the rates on the 1st. Is there such a thing?
